Project Data

The National Museums of Kenya is currently very keen on the digitization of its biocollections especially the natural history collections. The digitized specimens can then be used to make informed decisions in conservation issues and policy making.

Title The digitization of specimen in Invertebrate Collection, Zoology Department of the National Museums of Kenya.
Funding National Museums of Kenya
Study Area Description The specimens were collected from various localities in Kenya.
Design Description The specimens were first assigned a unique identifier referred to as a catalogue number. The specimen data was then captured in excel spreadsheets. The data was cleaned and aligned to the Darwin core standards before being submitted for upload through the National Museums of Kenya GBIF IPT.
