Latest version published by National Museums of Kenya on Jul 13, 2019 National Museums of Kenya

occurrence data of hover flies specimens at the natural history collection of the National museums of Kenya. This comprises of both historical and current data. The taxonomic information is up-to-date as the entire collection was checked by an expert of the African species prior to publishing. Data was mined from the specimen labels into excel spreadsheets as provided by GBIF, georeferenced using Geolocate and validated using GBIF Data Validator

Data Records

The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 3,137 records.

This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.

Downloads

Download the latest version of this resource data as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A) or the resource metadata as EML or RTF:

Project Data

This project headed by the Royal Museum for Central Africa (RCMA) that seeks to address the gap for sub saharan Africa by partnering with museums in Africa to digitize and publish existing records on the group of insects known as diptera (Flies and Mosquitoes) and to increase the size and value of museum collections through field collections and by documenting pollination interaction webs for the groups.
